Mental Health and Brain Fog

Brain fog, mental health and the gut.

Our body is a wonderful creation that has many different moving and non-moving parts, that work together to produce the wonderful result of you, and the things that you can do, and think.

One such amazing connection between these parts that some people may not be aware of, or the importance of, is the gut - brain connection.

This is also sometimes known as the gut-brain axis.

Together the gut and the brain can work together to make you feel well, or unwell. The link is so strong that the gut is also sometimes called the 2nd brain.

The gut brain connection can link anxiety to stomach problems, and vice versa and most human emotions like anger, stress, sadness and extreme elation can all trigger reactions in your gut.

Conversely, if your gut is not healthy, the brain will follow.

For decades, scientists used to believe that gut issues like constipation, diarrhoea, bloating and IBS were caused by conditions like anxiety and depression, but new studies are now showing that this is in fact, the other way round.

Other conditions like brain fog, where you struggle to think clearly and tend to lose your train of though and recall ability, or simply struggle to focus and concentrate for a period, can be all linked to poor gut health.

The good news is that there are things that we can do to help you feel better.

Simple dietary changes and the right nutrition can go a long way.
